Status Report 1: (due by Friday, 9/28)

An initial status repot entry that covers the whole group EP Workshops facilitated by Bethany on Friday, Sept. 7, and Friday, Sept. 21. This first status report should address the following:
A.) Where you are in your process of creating your portfolio (e.g., digital folders and related artifacts, tool choice, actual design, URL, etc.)

I have decided to use Google Sites for my portfolio, but I am constantly worried that it is not original enough. I is not letting me create any graphic designs on the page. On the other hand, I could create some original art work and photograph it (Google Sites work with photos). I have singled out some great artifacts that I have completed in my NCSU career, which include my amazing School Improvement Plan.

B.) What your additional categories are that you feel will best represent your identity as a beginning middle grades ELA / SS teacher (at least 2 more than the 5 required ones: content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, impact on student learning, 21st C technologies and skills)

I haven't completely decided on the additional categories that will best represent my teacher identity. Perhaps an education policy section, or a personal experience/fieldwork section (which could overlap and just be apart of one section - if you know what I mean).

C.) What your initial ideas for a theme are (e.g., an intentional focus or creative metaphor that gives insight to your identity as an individual and a beginning middle grades ELA & SS teacher) and related design considerations (e.g., layout, color scheme, images, quotations, video, etc.)

I am using Greek Myth and Philosopher ideas and images in my EP! I think its probably weird, but its something no one else will be able to pull off!

Status Report 2 (10/11)
A.) Where are you in your process?

I keep flip-flopping between weebly.com and my google site. Weebly is new and has a blog-type layout - which is different for me. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which medium I was most comfortable with.

B.) What are your additional categories that you feel will best represent your identity as a beginning middle grades ELA/SS teacher?

Additional categories that I will display will include a segment on my ideas for school improvement.

C.) Theme:

I am still set upon the theme of Ancient Greece, simply because it is everywhere in our movies, books, and architecture. I have specifically targeted Greek Legends however, because they are often meant to emphasize strong leadership traits - like working hard to achieve the impossible (and etc.)

Status Report 3 (10/19)

I am sticking with my google site. It works for me and has a cool layout as is. I think that I'm going to add a teaching philosophy section, and I have discovered photoshop.com. This will allow me to turn my own photographs into something that can relate to Greek Legends! It is very cool and it will make my website memorable and unique. I need to organize my evidences better though and send out some emails to some interviewees (wise to ask them again before I put their content on a public webpage).

Status Report 4 (11/2)

Uploaded some "content" documents through my document history and started re-reading them so I can reflect adequately. I found two papers from freshman year and I am a great historical researcher! It was an interesting read about Pablo Picasso and I wrote a few brief reflections. I will elaborate on them later. I also sent an email to Dr. DeMary (used to be state superintendent of VA) and requested permission to use my interview of her SIP methods as a compliment to my SIP collaborative plan (which will go in the leadership section).

Status Report 5 (11/9)

I received Dr. DeMary's response the other day - she gave me the green light so I am allowed to add the interview. Incidentally, I also sent her my SIP hoping that she would think I am a genius (which I am - she says I'm going to be a superintendent!). I need to go to the Art Museum and take pictures of the Ancient Greek Art so I can photoshop and add my beautiful photos to the site! I found more literature papers that I got top marks on and will reflect and add them to the site. I think I am proudest of my SIP though, because it is a beautiful example of productivity and strength combination in collaboration.

Status Report 6 (11/16)

I need to use the outsiders project in my EP. It is a great example of "Impact on student learning." I know that this section is generally reserved for Spring fieldwork, but I cant resist (we are making a music video)! There is going to be a lot of good photos - i predict. I am also using this time to revise my resume.
